Peter Wonderly

Donor Peter Wonderly has been a lover of jazz for some 50 years, having been introduced to the Jazz Crusaders by his older brother, and the Dave Brubeck Quartet by his father. To this day, he considers the Jazz Crusaders the most underappreciated ensemble in jazz history, and so has named this scholarship in their honor. He was further motivated to establish this scholarship when he learned trumpeter extraordinaire, Kris Tiner, had been selected to head up the jazz studies program at his alma mater, Bakersfield College. Peter considers Kris is not only an incredibly gifted performer, but among the very best of men, and he felt compelled to support in some way his latest venture. Cheers!
