Severo Jose Ramirez
Severo Jose Ramirez was born and raised in Bakersfield Ca. He attended Hort Elementary, Stiern Middle School and graduated in 1999 from Foothill High School where he played baseball and football.
He continued his education at Bakersfield College. While attending BC, he joined the MECha Club where he was able to express the passion he felt not only for the Club but also for his Hispanic Culture. Severo was an avid fan of the BC Renegade Football team. He attended almost every game.
Severo was dedicated to God, his family, his music and his Raider Nation. He had an incredible laugh that touched all who knew him. His smile would light up a room whenever he walked in. His presence will be greatly missed by his family and friends but his memory will forever be in their hearts.
Severo was an amazing man with a heart of gold. He wouldn’t think twice about helping someone in need – even a perfect stranger. He stood firm in his beliefs, regardless what anyone else thought. Tragically, his life, along with his friend Leonel Del Toro, was cut short on March 16, 2013 in an auto accident.
This scholarship has been established in loving memory by his family to help others accomplish their goals and their dreams in Severo’s name. The family believes that whenever a recipient of this scholarship graduates from Bakersfield College, it’s as if their son, Severo Jose Ramirez, is also graduating.
