Second Chance Scholarship

The Second Chance Scholarship is awarded to returning Bakersfield College students who show potential achievement in their chosen discipline, are in need of financial assistance (or might not otherwise qualify for aid), and who have experienced or are currently experiencing significant personal challenges such as:

  • ex-felon or formerly incarcerated
  • undocumented status
  • loss of employment
  • high school dropout
  • foster youth or ward of the court
  • loss of purpose in life
  • grieving a loss

Applicants must submit an essay describing why their circumstances should justify receiving the award.
