Cerro Coso Promise Program 2021-2022

The Cerro Coso Promise (New Student Criteria)

Students who meet all of the criteria below will automatically qualify for the Cerro Coso Promise. To qualify, new students must:

  • Have graduated within the last 2 years of one of the high schools within the Kern Community College District service area
  • Have a 2.5 minimum cumulative GPA (Grades 10-12)
  • Be currently registered in 12 or more units at Cerro Coso Community College
  • Be a California resident or eligible via Dream Act/AB
  • Reside within the Kern Community College District Service Area

Continuing Student Criteria

Students who meet all of the criteria below will automatically qualify for the Cerro Coso Promise. To qualify, continuing students must:

  • Be a current Cerro Coso Community College student in “Good Standing” both academically and in student conduct:
  • Good Standing Academically—Student must have a minimum 2.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average and have completed a minimum of 67% of the units attempted.
  • Good Standing Student Conduct—Student must be free of any student conduct incidents that resulted in a warning or other sanction from Cerro Coso.
  • Be currently registered in 12 or more units at Cerro Coso Community College
  • Be a California resident or eligible via Dream Act/AB 540
  • Reside within the Kern Community College District Service Area

Returning Student Criteria

Students who meet all of the criteria below will automatically qualify for the Cerro Coso Promise. To qualify, returning students must:

  • Be over the age of 18
  • Have attended one of the Kern Community College District colleges (Bakersfield College, Cerro Coso Community College, Porterville College) and have left in “Good Standing” both academically and in student conduct:
  • Good Standing Academically- Student must have a minimum 2.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average and have completed a minimum of 67% of the units attempted
  • Good Standing Student Conduct- Student must be free of any student conduct incidents that resulted in a warning or other sanction from the college previously attended
  • Be currently registered in 12 or more units at Cerro Coso Community College
  • Be a California resident or eligible via Dream Act/AB 540
  • Reside within the Kern Community College District Service Area
