California Retired Teacher's Association (CalRTA)

The Kern Division California Retired Teachers’ Scholarship Association is pleased to be able to provide three scholarships to graduates of Bakersfield College who are continuing their studies in the field of education. We are proud of our members who have worked hard to make it possible to offer scholarships of $3,500 each for the 2024-2025 school year.

Criteria for Selection of Scholarship Recipients
California Colleges and Universities
Each student shall:

1. Be a citizen of the United States of America.

2. Have a high academic standing as evidenced by a transcript of studies. Submit a transcript of your grades with this application.

3. Have successfully completed two or more years of college studies and be planning to enroll in upper division studies at a college or university in California in preparation for a professional career in the field of education.

4. Submit two letters of recommendation one of which must be from a college faculty member.

5. Submit a *brief *essay and resumé of your future plans including why you want to become a teacher.

6. Submit evidence of financial need.

7. Submit the name of the college or university in California you are planning to attend in the Fall. Scholarships will only be awarded to students continuing their studies in the State of California.
