Dean A. Gay Memorial Athletic Award

Dean A. Gay Memorial Athletic Awards go to Bakersfield College students who demonstrate financial need, leadership abilities, good character, responsibility/dependability, good citizenship and a good academic standing. Sophomore student-athletes who have exhausted their athletic eligibility shall be considered in the following categories: football (three awards), baseball, softball, men’s track, and women’s track. Three awards are available to students who have completed at least two semesters at Bakersfield College, who are not participating in athletics, and who are physical education majors (male and female), and/or a student studying to be an athletic trainer or sports therapist. For all awards, a preference will be shown to those who are making good progress toward a degree, are planning to continue their higher education following completion of their studies at Bakersfield College and who want to pursue a career in education. The BC Athletics Department Scholarship Committee shall make the final selections.
