Reggie Williams Distinguished Writing Award
The Reggie Williams Distinguished Writing Award is awarded to enrolled BC students with a 3.3 GPA or higher, that have completed the following courses: English B1A (or an AP composition score of at least 4) AND completion of English B2, English B3, or Philosophy B9. Applicants must provide a sample introductory paragraph that a) effectively hooks the reader, b) introduces a specific topic of interest to the applicant, c) includes a thesis, and d) does not exceed 300 words. This paragraph can be on topics from any academic discipline (e.g., humanities, social or behavioral sciences, art, STEM, etc.). It can be taken from a paper the applicant has already written, or it can be a new composition that introduces an essay they intend to write in the future—so long as it is their original work. Funds are to be disbursed during the term awarded.
